Is your phone broken and insured through Interpolis?

At Interpolis, your phone, tablet, or laptop is covered in several ways. Inside your home, your household contents insurance covers you for incidents such as theft following a break-in, fire, and lightning damage. For damage caused by accidental drops at home, you’ll need the All-Risk Household Contents Insurance.

For damage, theft, or loss that occurs outside your home in the Netherlands, you can take out a separate “BuitenDeDeur” insurance policy with Interpolis. This policy covers cell phones, tablets, and laptops if you drop them, lose them, or if they are stolen.

When does Interpolis cover damage to your device?

Interpolis assesses each claim based on your policy terms and conditions. These are the most common situations covered by home contents insurance, All-Risk Home Contents Insurance, and Out-of-Home Insurance.

Generally covered

Theft Following a Break-in at Your Home (Household Goods)
Fire, lightning strikes, and scorch or melt damage at home
Damage from a fall at home (with All-Risk Home Contents Coverage)
Falls or bumps outdoors (with BuitenDeDeur)
Theft or Loss Outside the Home in the Netherlands (with BuitenDeDeur)

Generally not covered

Age or wear and tear, such as a dying battery
Leaving your device unattended (carelessness)
Normal wear and tear (scratches or dents that do not affect functionality)
Intentional damage
Damages resulting from fraud or abuse (phishing, scams)
