When a device has suffered water or other moisture damage, this is far from a straightforward repair. Whereas most manufacturers reject a moisture damage repair because of its complexity or low chance of success, at ThePhoneLab we do offer it. It is important to note, however, that we cannot guarantee that we can repair your Samsung. Especially with modern devices, it is complicated to repair water damage.
To minimize water damage, it is advisable to have your Samsung cleaned as soon as possible. In this water damage cleaning, we disassemble the device and chemically clean components such as the motherboard. By doing so, we remove residual moisture, salt and minerals left behind and any corrosion that may have occurred. After this, we carefully dry the device.
This cleaning allows us to then safely turn on the unit and test the functionality of all components. Simply put, there are 3 possible outcomes:
- After the cleaning, the water damage is fully repaired and the device is fully functional again.
- After cleaning and diagnosis, it was found that one or more parts have sustained permanent damage and need to be replaced before the device is fully functional again. (often screen and/or battery)
- The motherboard gives no sign of life and because of this it is also not possible to test the operation of other components. If desired, we can then proceed with a motherboard repair. However, this will involve additional costs.
Because we have to put a lot of time into a water damage cleaning and diagnosis, we cannot do it on a no-cure-no-pay basis.
