What once began as one of the most advanced iPhones, 5G, MagSafe, Face ID, sleek design, is now starting to have some hiccups for many users. Your iPhone 12 crashes during an app, the battery dies mid-day, Face ID doesn’t work since that one screen repair, or you can’t get it to charge wirelessly with no way. Recognizable?

At ThePhoneLab, we see them every day: devices that just don’t do what they used to. In this blog, we list the most common iPhone 12 problems for you, from an iPhone 12 that stops charging to a screen that no longer responds to anything, and most importantly, what you can do about it.

In this blog, we discuss the following topics:

iPhone 12 mini screen responds poorly

With the iPhone 12 mini, complaints came in from the launch about it not responding properly to taps or swipes, especially on the lock screen. In some cases, some of this can be solved software-wise, but for many devices, the problem is in the screen itself.

What can you try?

  • Remove your screen protector temporarily (may affect sensitivity)
  • Update to the latest iOS version
  • Restore your iPhone 12 mini to factory settings. Want to know how to do this safely, without losing your data? Then read; Restore iPhone to factory settings? It’s that simple!

Are the steps not working? Our technicians can tell immediately if the screen is not responding properly hardware-wise. And yes, we also have replacement screens on standby for minis. Make your appointment online or feel free to walk one of our stores in.

Magsafe problems iPhone 12

With the iPhone 12, Apple introduced MagSafe for the first time: wireless charging via a magnetic snap connection on the back. Sounds futuristic, often works fine, but we also regularly see customers walk in saying, “It doesn’t do anything anymore” or “It suddenly charges super slowly.”

Common MagSafe problems with the iPhone 12:

  • MagSafe does not charge despite correct connection
  • iPhone gets extremely hot during wireless charging
  • Connection keeps dropping or stopping halfway through
  • MagSafe no longer works at all after drop or water damage

Battery drains faster after iOS 18

This is one of the few complaints that also occurs with other models, but with the iPhone 12, we see remarkably frequent reports of rapid battery wear since the latest iOS updates. The iPhone 12 has a relatively small battery capacity compared to its successors, and thus loses power faster.

What can you do?

  • Check your battery condition via Settings → Battery
  • Enable energy conservation, limit background activity
  • Is your capacity below 80%? Then it’s time for a new battery

With us, a battery replacement fixed within 30 minutes, you can even sit for a while. Don’t wait and make your appointment online!

iPhone 12 crashes

You’re in the middle of an app, want to tap something, but your screen pretends to be air. No swipe, no click, no home button. Only a soft vibration or a notification in the background betrays that your iPhone 12 is alive.

Your device seems completely jammed, which is exactly what is going on.

What can you do? iPhone 12 reset:

  1. Briefly press the volume up button.
  2. Briefly press the volume down button.
  3. Then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

In 9 out of 10 cases, your device will be awake and usable again after this. Does this not work, or does your device keep crashing over and over again? Then there could be more to it, such as an outdated iOS version, an app that crashes or hardware that gets hiccups.

Our specialists at ThePhoneLab can quickly identify the cause and fix the problem. The

Most common iPhone 12 repairs:

    1. Housing replacement- Scratches, dents or paint peeling off the sides? This is especially common on the black and white models.
    2. Rear camera replacement-.Think blurry images, shaky focus or a camera that stops working altogether.
    3. Selfie camera replacement– Think blurry selfies or even completely black images.
    4. Back camera lens replacement- Sometimes only the camera lens is cracked or scratched , we then replace only the lens cover, so that your photos are sharp again and your lens remains protected.
    5. Dock connector repair- When cleaning your charging port no longer does the trick either

iPhone 12 loses mobile coverage or has weak connection

One of the most recurring complaints about the iPhone 12 (especially among users who are on the go a lot): mobile coverage suddenly drops, or reception gets stuck on 4G when there should be just 5G available. Super irritating when you’re in the middle of a call or trying to use a hotspot.

What is the cause?

The iPhone 12 was the first iPhone with 5G, but not every version is as stable in it. Some models switch between networks slowly or don’t hold connection well, especially in areas with varying coverage. A damaged antenna module (after drop or water damage) can also cause this.

What can you do?

  • Set airplane mode briefly on and off again to force the connection
  • Switch manually between 5G/4G via Settings -> Mobile network -> Options -> Voice and data
  • Is it structurally not working? Get your antenna or SIM card slot checked – they are replaceable

Our technicians can tell in minutes if it’s a software glitch or if something needs to be replaced. And yes, most of the time you really don’t have to buy a new device for it!
