Love at first sight and eye at Samsung

Traditionally, we begin with South Korea’s pride. No not the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Samsung of course! In our
last month’s update
featured all the rumors, including the Samsung Galaxy S9’s design, fingerprint scanner and new chip.

The latest rumor is that the new flagship device will feature highly advanced facial recognition technology called “intelligent scan. In addition to your face, this scan also recognizes your iris to unlock the phone. Sunglasses off, then!

iPhone XL, XS, 10, 11 you name it….

After
disappointing sales figures
of the iPhone X, there was speculation about suspending production of the edgeless device by the end of 2018. But according to Ming-Chi Kuo, who had predicted very precisely on several occasions what devices Apple would be releasing, that has more to do with the fact that Apple would be launching 3 new versions of the iPhone X in fall 2018.

Namely, a larger version, a smaller (budget?) version and a successor to the iPhone X. What these will then all be called is, of course, a mystery, since Apple has abandoned its chronological order. Maybe Apple should hold a contest for the name. We are going for iPhone Xtra, iPhone Mini and the iPhone Eleven ;-).

Google’s Pixel coming to the Netherlands?

Not everyone in the Netherlands may have noticed, but Google has been releasing excellent smartphones for two years: The Pixel series. Unfortunately, the first two versions were never available in our little country, because Google’s smart-assistant does not yet speak Dutch. But there will this year change, so there is a good chance that the search giant will ship its latest device, the Google Pixel 3, to the Netherlands as well. It is not expected to be until after the summer, though.

Nokia’s comeback?

When you think of Nokia, you think of an indestructible phone with which you can merely call, text and snooze. The Finnish company has been trying to shake off that stigma for years, m

aar a really big hit since the snake era was unfortunately never in the cards for our Scandinavian friends.

But Finns are go-getters and perhaps this year’s Nokia 9 will make the ultimate comeback. Indeed, the company has also reserved a spot at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, where it will announce the successor to the Nokia 8. The 9 is said to feature a dual-selfie camera, glass body, finger and iris scanner and, according to experts, a camera that all other manufacturers will envy.

None of this really matters to us, as long as there is

HolyGram to boot!

We end the rumor mill with an unknown brand. But an unknown brand that claims to be going to revolutionize the smartphone world. We had never heard of it, but the American RED announced the launch of a phone with holographic technology. The RED Hydrogen would allow you to see 3D images without special glasses, meaning holograms appear from your phone. The device is available for pre-order, but a release date is still far from known.
