iPhone no longer turns on? Follow these steps!

An iPhone that no longer turns on and does nothing can cause a lot of concern. It can happen without any warning and you may wonder what could be causing it. In this article, we examine the possible causes of an iPhone that no longer turns on and provide some solutions to fix this problem.

In this blog, we discuss the following steps:

1. Try resetting the phone

The first thing you should try when your iPhone stops doing anything is a reset, this is the solution in most cases. Read more about this in the‘how to do a hard reset on your iPhone‘ blog.

2. Battery is completely empty

Should the reset not work, a completely dead battery is one of the most common causes of an iPhone not turning back on. If the battery is fully discharged, the iPhone will not respond when you press the power button. Then also try charging the iPhone and see if it comes back on after that. Especially if it has been off for a long time, it can take hours before it turns on again. This is because a very dead battery must be charged very slowly to avoid damage.

3. Try different chargers and power strips

When your iPhone stops doing anything, it’s natural to put it on the charger first. When no battery icon appears it may be:

  • The phone is so empty that even the red battery icon is still not charging, so put the phone on the charger for at least 15 minutes.
  • Your power strip or charging cable no longer works.
  • There is dust in your dock connector.

In the second case, it is advisable to try different cables and plug blocks. If you don’t have other power strips, you can also connect the charging cable to your computer’s USB port.

When there is dust in your charging port (dock connector), your charger may not make good contact causing

4. Your battery or dock connector is broken

If you have tried steps 2 and 3 then chances are that the battery or the dock connector is broken. This can be due to age, water damage or improperly charging the phone. Using cheap counterfeit chargers is especially bad and can damage your phone.

6. Your screen is broken (you do hear sound and the phone also vibrates).
