THIS IS THE NEW iPHONE X

Yesterday at 7 p.m. sharp, our entire team was ready for the Apple livestream. Every year around this date, Apple presents the latest iPhone model. As this year marks the 10th anniversary of Apple’s introduction of the first iPhone (2G), there was a lot of noise surrounding this year’s anniversary model. That the name of the new model would be called the iPhone X quickly became the rumor.

After an introduction of the new iPhone 8 and 8+ which are in fact a 7S and 7S+ (only minor upgrades over the iPhone 7), the iPhone X was presented. The X has a full OLED screen and runs around the entire frame of the iPhone. The home button with accompanying Touch ID is gone and has given way to the screen.

Face recognition

How to unlock the iPhone without touch id quickly became the big question. A lot of rumors mentioned that the fingerprint scanner would be incorporated into the screen. This would have huge implications for repair stores considering the fingerprint scan cannot be repaired without official Apple equipment that only Apple has access to. And if the Touch ID were incorporated into the screen, every screen repair would require replacing this fingerprint scanner, which would prevent repair stores from performing screen repairs. Fortunately, Apple came up with another solution: facial recognition.

Apple wouldn’t be Apple if it went out every challenge and managed to overcome the greatest challenges by applying the latest innovations. For example, the iPhone X has the best facial recognition of any smartphone currently on the market. Yes, the S8 has a “kind” of facial recognition, but it works through the iris scanner, through your eye and not your face so.

This facial recognition is a groundbreaking innovation that also matches the orbital fame of the first iPhone. What’s even more amazing: You can have your face scanned and incorporated into an Emoji.

Design

The new iPhone X is made of glass both front and back. Of course, for us, a glass backing is a positive thing; after all, these break too. Whether you as a consumer are so happy with it v is the question. At least it looks pretty. Also, the screen which Apple says “consists of the most durable glass” is again fragile. Some concern the new glass with OLED does offer: OLED screens are in fact produced by Samsung, and Apple must purchase these screens from Samsung itself (around $110 each). This will ensure that iPhone X repair prices will be many times higher than those of, say, the iPhone 7 or 8. What the exact price will be we won’t know until around the end of November.

Also, the iPhone X is also waterproof again. The waterproofing is almost the same as that of the iPhone 7. The frame is made of stainless steel and will be available in black or silver.

Camera

The iPhone X’s new camera will include a 12MP sensor, with a dual lens that is brighter than the iPhone 7+’s camera.

With this new camera, you will be able to edit the light of a photo in various ways that were not possible before.

In addition to photos, the iPhone X can also shoot amazing footage at a whopping 60 frames per second. This means the iPhone X can shoot images in 4K and SLO MOs in 1080P at 240 frames per second.

Wireless charging

Finally, the new iPhone X can be charged wirelessly, devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ already have this so a major innovation need not be mentioned.

As you might expect, Apple has also designed its own wireless charger, it will be called the AirPower and will not be available until next year. The good news: the iPhone X, 8 and 8S will be universally chargeable with other wireless chargers. So you can also use a Samsung charger to charge your iPhone.

Price tag

Now I can hear you thinking, “Must be costing something.” Well the iPhone X certainly does. Partly because of the new OLED screen, the price of the new iPhone X has skyrocketed. The 64GB model will cost €1160 and the 256GB model €1329. Check out our website for an iPhone X screen repair

Repair

Repair of the iPhone X is not likely to become affordable until around January. Screen prices of new iPhones are incredibly high right after release. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Manufacturing screens are mainly for new devices
  2. There is the beginning few broken devices so there is still little demand for the new screens.
  3. OLED is produced by Samsung, Apple will have to purchase these screens from Samsung who will of course make a small profit on this as well
  4. OLED screens are more expensive to produce than current LCD screens.

When we have the screens in stock it will be mentioned immediately on our site. We ourselves will be in front of the Apple store November 3 to get the new iPhone X!
