  • iPhone crashes during update

iPhone update fails, how is this possible?

iPhone update problems can be due to several aspects. For example, you may have a slightly older iPhone model that does not support the update. For the most recent update (iOS 14) you need an iPhone 6s or newer model, older models do not support this update.

If your battery is too low, this can also cause your iPhone update to fail. So make sure your iPhone is sufficiently charged or put it on the charger during the update, just to be sure. iPhone memory is full

The most common cause of iPhone update problems is too full memory. You can first try to manually remove some of it yourself. To see what takes up the most space go to Settings>General>iPhone storage. Still can’t update your iPhone? Or do you see that much of the occupied storage falls under “other”? Then try the following: backup your data, then restore your iPhone to factory settings and then restore the backup back to your iPhone. Did this not help either? You can then try updating your iPhone via iTunes.

Updating iPhone via iTunes

Updating your iPhone via iTunes is a good alternative when your memory is full or you experience other update problems. You do this as follows:

  • Connect your iPhone to a Macbook and launch iTunes.
  • Go to your iPhone and click “Search for update.”
  • You can now download the update and update your iPhone.

iPhone crashes during update

You’re updating your iPhone and everything is running smoothly, but then suddenly your iPhone crashes. No stress! Your iPhone is not broken anyway and there is always a solution. To restore your iPhone, you can perform a hard reset. Read how to do this for your iPhone model here.

Unfortunately, did the above steps not help you and your iPhone update fails? We then recommend going to a professional repair shop (for example, ThePhoneLab – check here for a branch near you). At ThePhoneLab, we always do a free diagnostic first. After this, you are not required to proceed to repair, but of course you can. Make your appointment here:
