Resetting an iPhone sometimes means different things. Is your iPhone stuck and want to perform a hard reset? Or do you want to reset your iPhone, back to factory settings? In this blog, we will cover these forms of resetting your iPhone, what they are good for, and how to perform them.

Hard reset, soft reset, forced reboot. Which is what?

First, clear up some ambiguities: Some call it a hard reset (hard reset), others call it a soft reset (soft reset) and still others call it a forced restart (forced restart). Actually, they are all talking about the same thing and most important: Your data will not be erased so a backup is not necessary. Therefore, this is an ideal way to fix your stuck iPad or other software problems. This reset is best performed if your phone has crashed, the image is frozen, the touch is unresponsive or suddenly you have no image.

Follow these steps to perform the reset:

For models without an in-screen home button (home button):

  1. Briefly press and release the volume-up button.
  2. Briefly press and release the volume down button.
  3. Then press and hold Power button.
  4. Release the power button when you see the Apple logo. This can take up to 20 seconds.

For models with home button (home button) in the screen:

  1. Press and hold the home button (home button) and the top power button (or side button) at the same time.
  2. Release both buttons when you see the Apple logo. This can take up to 20 seconds.
