What is restoring factory settings?
When you buy a new device, such as an iPad, MacBook or iPhone, it only has the factory settings on it. You then receive the device in exactly the same condition as when it left the factory. By restoring the factory settings, you remove all the data and changes you made to your device. This also happens when you clean up your iPad, but it never removes all the data like a reset does. Why completely reset an iPad?
There are several reasons why it is convenient to reset your iPad. For example, should you want to sell it or recycle it, you don’t want the new user to make off with your data. Also, (if the iPad does not use outdated soft- and hardware) it can be a huge boost to the speed of your iPad to clear it – that’s because it removes all kinds of unnecessary files and in exceptional situations also viruses.
