There are 3 different ways to transfer your data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone

  • With Quick Start (start immediately)
  • With iCloud
  • Using iTunes or Finder via a Mac or Windows computer

These 3 methods are listed in order of convenience. Is your old iPhone an iPhone 5, Air 1, Mini 2 or newer and still working well? Then you can use the Quick Start “start immediately” transfer function. Your iPhone may need to be updated to iOS 11 before it will be recognized by the new iPhone.

With Quick Start (start immediately) transfer your iPhone

The advantage of this method is that most data, settings and also your passwords are

Step 1: Check what software version is running on your iPhone. You do this by ‘Settings’ > ‘General’ > Here you will see the software version. Is this iOS 11 or newer? Top! Then proceed to Step 2. If it is older then the best way to transfer all the data to your new iPhone is to use iTunes or finder.
Step 2: Take the new iPhone out of its beautiful packaging and switch it on. Do this near your old iPhone. Your new iPhone now displays the message: Start immediately.

Step 3: On your old iPhone, there will also be a notification asking you to set up the new iPhone. Click on
‘Continue
‘ and wait for an animation showing a blue cloud on the new iPhone to come into view.
Step 4: Using your old iPhone’s camera, scan the blue cloud and wait until you see completed on screen. Then enter the passcode from your old iPhone into the new one.
Step 5: Follow the steps to set up TouchID or FaceID, enter the AppleID password and start transferring.
Step 6: Wait for the transfer to complete. This often takes a little longer than the time estimate previously indicated. So don’t panic. Also, leave the iPhones close together.

After the transfer is complete, it may take some time for all apps and photos to be downloaded again. Therefore, it is smart to keep your new iPhone connected to Wi-Fi. It’s also best to put it in the charger. Because it is still downloading nicely, the battery drains extra fast. You can enjoy using your new iPhone though!

Using iCloud to transfer your iPhone

Does the above process not work but you have backed up your old iPhone to the iCloud? Then you can also use this method.

Step 1: If necessary, create a new iCloud backup on your current iPhone.
Step 2: Take the new iPhone out of its beautiful packaging and switch it on. You now see “Hello” and continue by swiping up or clicking the home button.
Step 3: Follow the steps until you see the ‘Apps and data’ screen. Choose the option here: Restore iCloud backup.
Step 4: Log in with your Apple ID and select the backup you created in Step 1.
Step 5: Wait for the backup download to complete. This often takes a little longer than transferring your data directly.

After the restore is completed, it may take some time for all apps and photos to be downloaded again. Therefore, it is smart to keep your new iPhone connected to Wi-Fi. It’s also best to put it in the charger. Because it is still downloading nicely, the battery drains extra fast. You can enjoy using your new iPhone though!

Using iTunes or Finder and your computer or Mac to transfer your iPhone

Don’t have enough iCloud storage for backup? Then you can also use iTunes or Finder to transfer your old iPhone to your new iPhone.

Step 1: Connect your old iPhone to your PC or Mac. If all goes well, iTunes or Finder will open automatically and you will see information about your iPhone. Is this not so? Then open iTunes manually or install it if necessary.
Step 2: In iTunes or Finder, click on: Create backup. Preferably choose an encrypted backup so that all data and passwords are included. Keep the set password safe! You will need these when restoring the backup to your (future) new iPhone.
Step 3: Wait for the backup to succeed. A message will then appear ‘Last backup made on
date/time

Step 4:Take the new iPhone out of its beautiful packaging and switch it on. You now see “Hello” and continue by swiping up or clicking the home button. Follow the steps until you see the ‘Apps and data’ screen.
Step 5: Choose the Restore iTunes backup option. Tap Next and connect the new iPhone to your PC or Mac.
Step 6: On your PC or Mac, select “Restore backup” and choose the backup you just made. Is the backup encrypted? Then enter your password.
Step 7: Wait for the backup restore to complete. After this, follow the final steps such as setting up TouchID or FaceID and re-enter your Apple ID password.

After the restore is complete, it may once again take a while for all apps and photos to be downloaded again. Therefore, it is smart to keep your new iPhone connected to Wi-Fi. It’s also best to put it in the charger. Because it is still downloading nicely, the battery drains extra fast. You can enjoy using your new iPhone though!

Step 1

First, turn on your new iPhone. Pick your language, country and region. Next, tap Configure Manually. Then choose a Wi-Fi network to connect to. Walk through the steps of choosing your privacy settings, Face ID or Touch ID. Then a screen comes up with different ways to transfer data. Choose ‘

Step 3

Check your iPhone to see if a code came into view. You must now enter the code on your old Android to transfer the data. Then you can specify which data you do and do not want to transfer. Certain apps may ask for additional permission to transfer data. If you have indicated for the apps of your choice that you do want to take them with you to the new iPhone, tap
Continue

Step 4

The data is now being transferred. Let this process proceed slowly, and make sure both devices have enough battery or leave them on the charger. In fact, devices can drain quite quickly while transferring data. When the progress bar on the Android AND the iPhone are all filled up, you can click on the iPhone on Continue tap. On the iPhone, you can now go through the further steps of preparing your iPhone, such as entering your Apple ID and setting up Siri.
