No service iPhone? Check out this blog!
You just want to make that important call…. and then suddenly you get the message “no service” on your iPhone. You run outside, holding your phone as high in the air as you can, but still no service. Now what? In this blog, we cover the following points:
- “No service” notification on your iPhone
- Mobile data does not work iPhone
“No service” notification on your iPhone
There are mainly three aspects where something could be wrong when you get the “no service” message. Not having service could be provider related, it could be due to network settings or there could be something wrong with your iPhone’s baseband chip. First, check for yourself that you have paid your phone bill, if you don’t (on time) the provider can stop your subscription which will deprive you of service. Everything paid nicely? Check on allestoringen.nl whether there is an outage, an outage can cause you to have no service.
Checked the above but no service iPhone? Try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Restore network settings. Did you know that each provider has different network settings? You may not have set the right one for your provider. To change this, go to Settings > Mobile Network > Mobile Data Network . You then enter the following depending on your provider. Click here to view the APN settings for your provider.
Did none of the tips help you? Perhaps then it is a hardware problem. The chip responsible for this problem is called the Baseband chip and connects to the transmission tower. So you understand that when this chip is defective it cannot connect to the transmission tower and this causes you to get that annoying “no service” message on your iPhone screen. Want to check if your baseband chip is broken? At the phone app, type in #*06#, your imei number will come up. If you see no imei then this is because your phone cannot read the baseband chip. This probably needs to be replaced then. Unfortunately, the only solution to this is a motherboard repair. Select your iPhone model here for a breakdown of motherboard repair costs.
Mobile data does not work iPhone
You don’t get a “no service” message but your Internet doesn’t work? Chances are something is going on with your mobile data. First, see if your mobile data is enabled. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data. Is this the case? Then check if your internet bundle has not run out, go to your provider’s app or website to do so.
If you are abroad but do not have Internet, make sure data roaming is enabled your iPhone. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data options > Data roaming.
Did the above steps unfortunately not help you you still have no service on your iPhone? We then recommend going to a professional repair shop (for example, ThePhoneLab – check here for a branch near you). At ThePhoneLab, we always do a free diagnostic first. After this, you are not required to proceed to repair, but of course you can. Make your appointment here:
