Android smartphones are packed with useful features and settings that are often out of sight of the average user. One of those hidden treasures are the “Developer Options,” a powerful collection of tools that are actually intended for app developers, but can also be of interest to curious users. In this blog, we reveal how to access these secret settings on your Android device.
Click on the video or read the simple guide here to get you started:
Step 1: Go to your settings
Start by going to your Settings app. You can often find this in your app drawer or by tapping the cog icon on your home screen.
Step 2: Tap “About The Phone.
In your Settings, scroll down until you see the About the Phone (or similar) option. Tap it.
Step 3: Tap the Build Number
Here comes the interesting part. The About the Phone screen shows various information about your device. Find the ‘Build number’ (this may vary depending on your Android version). Now tap this number several times quickly until you see a notification that says, “You are now a developer.”
Step 4: Return to settings and find ‘Developer Options’
Now that you have reached developer status, return to the main page of your Settings. Scroll down and find the new option called “System. Tap it.
Step 5: Open “Developer Options.
Under “System,” you will now find the sought-after “Developer Options. Tap it to access a wealth of advanced settings and tools.
It is important to note that these developer options are intended for people building and testing apps, not for the average user. Some settings here can affect the operation of your phone if adjusted incorrectly. We therefore recommend caution and making adjustments only if you know exactly what you are doing.
Developer options offer a wide range of possibilities, from speeding up animations to capturing screenshots with a single tap. It’s an interesting world to explore, but always remember that with great power comes great responsibility.
