No service iPhone? Check out this blog!
You just want to make that important call…. and then suddenly you get the message “no service” on your iPhone. You run outside, holding your phone as high in the air as you can, but still no service. Now what?
In this blog, we cover the following points:
“No service” notification on your iPhone
There are mainly three aspects where something could be wrong when you get the “no service” message. Not having service could be provider related, it could be due to network settings or there could be something wrong with your iPhone’s baseband chip. First check for yourself that you have paid your phone bill, if you don’t do this (on time) the provider may stop your subscription which means you no longer have service. Everything paid nicely? Check on allestoringen.nl if there is an outage, an outage can cause you to have no service.
Checked the above but no service iPhone? Try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or reset > Restore network settings. Did you know that each provider has different network settings? You may not have the right settings for your provider. To change this, go to Settings > Mobile Network > Mobile Data Network. You then enter the following depending on your provider. Click here to view the APN settings for your provider.
Did none of the tips help you? Perhaps then it is a hardware problem. The chip responsible for this problem is called the baseband chip and connects to the transmission tower. So you understand that when this chip is defective it cannot connect to the transmission tower and this causes you to get that annoying “no service” message on your iPhone screen. Want to check if your baseband chip is broken? In the phone app, type *#06#, your IMEI number will come up. If you do not see an IMEI then this is because your phone cannot read the baseband chip. This probably needs to be replaced then. Unfortunately, the only solution to this is a motherboard repair. Select your iPhone model here for a breakdown of motherboard repair costs.
Besides these causes, these days we also see that an eSIM may not be activated properly or needs to be reset after an iOS update. Therefore, check in Settings > Mobile Network if your eSIM is correctly active. Also, a damaged SIM card or SIM card holder can cause no service. Remove and reinsert the SIM card or test with another SIM card.
In addition, automatic network selection or 5G may cause connection problems. Temporarily turn off 5G or manually select a network through Settings > Mobile Network to test if this solves the problem.
Mobile data does not work iPhone
You don’t get a “no service” message but your Internet doesn’t work? Chances are something is going on with your mobile data. First, see if your mobile data is enabled. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data. Is this the case? Then check that your internet bundle has not run out, go to your provider’s app or website to do so.
If you are abroad but do not have internet, make sure data roaming is enabled on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data options > Data roaming.
In addition to these steps, it may also help to turn airplane mode on and off briefly. This causes your iPhone to reconnect to the network. Also, a software bug or incomplete iOS update can cause mobile data to not work properly. Therefore, make sure your iPhone is fully up to date and restart the device. Unfortunately, did the above steps not help you and you still have no service on your iPhone? We then recommend going to a professional repair shop (for example ThePhoneLab look here for an establishment near you). At ThePhoneLab, we always do a free diagnostic first. After this, you are not required to proceed to repair, but of course you can. Make your appointment here:

Why do I suddenly get the message "no service" on my iPhone?
This can have several causes. Often it is due to an outage with your provider, incorrect network settings, a problem with your SIM card or a software error. In some cases, there is a hardware problem, such as a defective baseband chip.
-
Can an eSIM cause me to have no service?
Yes. If an eSIM is not properly activated or needs to be reset after an update, you may be temporarily out of range. Check in Settings, Mobile Network to make sure your eSIM is correctly active.
-
Why is my mobile data not working even though I have coverage?
This could be due to incorrect APN settings, an empty data bundle, roaming turned off or a software bug. Turn mobile data off and on again and check if your Internet bundle is still active.
-
Can an iOS update cause range issues?
Yes, sometimes network problems can occur after an update. A reboot or reset of network settings usually resolves this. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or reset > Restore network settings

When should I have my iPhone repaired?
If you have tried all the steps and the problem persists, there is probably hardware damage. A diagnosis with a specialist is then wise.
