Disabling iPhone with newer models and iOS
With newer iPhones and recent iOS versions, turning off can sometimes feel different. For example, modern iPhones no longer have a physical home button and some features work via software. An iPhone may also be unresponsive due to a software error, an update or an app crashing.
In recent iOS versions, it is also possible to turn off your iPhone via settings. Go to Settings > General > Turn off. This is especially useful when a button doesn’t work properly. In addition, newer models, such as iPhone 13, 14, 15 and newer, have additional security features and power-saving processes. This can sometimes cause a device to take longer to fully respond or shut down. In that case, a forced reboot may help. Are you using a case or screen protector that puts pressure on the buttons? Then your iPhone may also appear to be unresponsive. Always check this first.
Unfortunately, did the above steps not help you and iPhone power off doesn’t work? We then recommend going to a professional repair shop (for example, ThePhoneLab – check here for a branch near you).
