iPad no longer responds to touch: perform a hard reset
Watching Netflix for hours or scrolling down your Facebook timeline is made a lot harder by this defect. At ThePhoneLab, we see it happen more often: your iPad Air screen not responding or your iPad Mini screen not responding. No matter what model of iPad you have, a screen that stops responding to the touch of your fingertips is always annoying. First, it is helpful to perform a hard reset. No data should be lost in this operation. You can perform a hard reset only if your screen still responds to touch sometimes. You carry this out by completing the following steps:
Do you have an iPad with Face ID (without a home button)?
- Press and release the volume up button
- Then press and release the volume down button
- Press and hold the power button
- The Apple logo appears on the screen, release the button
Do you have an iPad with a home button?
- Press and hold the power button and home button simultaneously
- The Apple logo appears on the screen, release both buttons
Has the iPad rebooted and your iPad still does not respond to touch? Then there could be two things going on:
- Your touchscreen is broken
- Your touch IC chip is broken
Your touchscreen is broken
If your screen does not respond to touch, it could also be that your touchscreen is broken. With the iPad, the touchscreen is often separate from the glass. In the iPhone, these two parts are often glued together. So, your iPad is slow to respond? Or your iPad no longer responds to touch? If so, the touchscreen is probably defective. In that case, you can opt for a touchscreen or screen repair.
iPad touchscreen does not work or respond: your touch IC chip is broken
Your iPad touchscreen is unresponsive or your iPad touchscreen is slow to respond? Then it is possible that your touch ic chip is defective. This chip is inside your iPad and controls the touch function in your screen. Your iPad no longer responds to touch? If so, this part may be (partially) defective. Multiple causes can create this problem. For example, water damage, drop damage or the increasing lifespan of your iPad. This problem can also be solved, namely by replacing the touch ic chip.
iPad black screen with Apple logo on screen
Your iPad touchscreen is not responding or your iPad touchscreen is not working? But you do see a black screen with Apple logo on the screen? Then the screen or touch ic chip is not broken. An iPad that keeps getting stuck on the Apple logo is suffering from a bootloop. It can occur with a variety of problems. Read more about what a bootloop is and how to fix the problem here.
