iPad blocked
For security reasons, your iPad is temporarily locked as soon as you enter an incorrect passcode. Apple even locks the iPad completely when you use an incorrect PIN multiple times. But safety first, so unfortunately you can’t then just pick up where you left off. ThePhoneLab’s specialists will tell you what steps to take to unblock your tablet.
iPad blocked
Once your iPad is locked, you must first put the device into recovery mode so you can wipe it and then reconfigure it. Only after that is successful will you be able to use your tablet again. We hear you thinking: how to put my iPad in recovery mode? There are several ways to do that. We show you the options:
Restore iPad locked with computer
You can unlock your iPad using a computer in conjunction with Apple Devices, iTunes or Finder. Which of the three you use depends on your tablet model. The most recent iPads use Finder; therefore, you can reset them without iTunes.
1. Turn off the iPad. Press and hold the home button until you can select “Turn off. Doesn’t your iPad have a home button? Then press and hold one of the volume buttons and the top button at the same time until you can select “Turn Off. To be safe, wait a minute after you turn off the iPad.
2. Now put the iPad into recovery mode.
– To do this, first open “Finder,” “iTunes” or the “Apple Devices app” (this depends on the version you have).
– Connect the iPad to the computer with a USB cable.
– Press and hold the home button and the volume-up button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (for other versions: hold the top button while briefly pressing the volume-up button and then the volume-down button once).
– You can now turn off the iPad and restore it via the computer.
3. Now locate the iPad in the app you opened on the computer and choose “Restore. Once the computer has downloaded the software, turn off the iPad, disconnect the iPad and restart your iPad. And on!
Unlocking iPad with Apple ID
Even without a computer, you can restore the iPad in two ways:
1. Is the Find My iPad feature enabled? Then you can use your Apple ID via iCloud.com to wipe the iPad via “Erase iPad. After the reset, you can use and set up your iPad again.
2. If you have entered the wrong login code multiple times, the iPad will automatically display the “Clear iPad” option. After this, you will still have to enter your Apple ID, after which you can use and set up your iPad again.
The disadvantage of these two ways is that you need a recent backup to avoid losing data.
iPad blocked hard reset
Is your iPad no longer responding at all because it is locked for other reasons? For example, due to jammed software? You might be able to restore the iPad via a hard reset, also called a forced restart. How to perform this reset can be found on the page ‘ iPad reset (video)‘. You can also read more about the Restore iPad to factory settings, which also deletes all files from the internal storage.
