The new iPhone 16: A new era for Apple?
Apple unveiled the highly anticipated iPhone 16, 16 plus, 16 pro and 16 pro max yesterday, and as always, expectations are sky-high.
But does this latest release live up to those expectations?
Is this a new era for Apple?
In this blog, we take a look at the new features and innovations of the iPhone 16 and all its models, and what this means for the future of smartphones.
This blog covers the following:
- IPhone 16 & iPhone 16 plus
- Iphone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max
- Power of the A18 chip
- Price
- Buy? Or just wait a little?
IPhone 16 iPhone 16 plus
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with some notable upgrades, especially in terms of design, Apple has gone all out. The “action button,” which you may know from the iPhone 15 Pro models, is now also available on the standard models and works as a shortcut – as if Apple has given us a turbo to race through apps even faster. Alongside this comeback is a brand new “camera control” button that lets you zoom in and switch between photo, panorama, video and slow motion with one swipe. No more fiddling with menus, just click and shoot.
Both models are a size larger than their predecessors, and the cameras now sit neatly underneath each other instead of diagonally. Plus, they come in five popping colors: Black, green, pink, blue and white.
What’s the difference between the iPhone 16 and the Plus? Actually not that much, except that the Plus has longer battery life and is even slightly larger – because bigger is always better, apparently?
Iphone 16 Pro iPhone 16 Pro Max
Of course, there are also the Pro models, which are a regular part of Apples release every year. This year, however, they are making a slightly smaller jump compared to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The Pro models have the same bells and whistles as the 16 and 16 Plus, but with an upgraded camera and an extra lens for 5X macro shots for those moments when you really want to photograph in great detail.
Power of the A18 chip
As for power, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come with the new A18 chip, which makes for an even smoother experience. The pro models get the A18 pro chip, which is just that little bit faster. Both chips are designed to best support the new Apple Intelligence. However, the 15 pro models also support it. This tool works with Siri and helps you with everything from quickly editing photos, text corrections and even creating your own emojis. In Europe, we’ll have to wait a while for this new AI tool because of a dispute between Apple and European regulations. That sucks! So creating your “cycling koala with a hat and sunglasses” emoji will have to wait a while.
Price

Buy? Or just wait a little?
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus bring with them fun new features, such as the action button, camera control and the powerful A18 chip. The Pro models are slightly faster and have an extra camera for your macro photography adventures. But if you already have the iPhone 15 Pro in your pocket, you won’t fall off your chair from the differences. Then there is the fact that in Europe we have to wait a while for Apple’s new AI tool. So, if you don’t want to make your own emoji of a bicycling koala right away, you’d better hold off on your purchase.
