As shop manager of ThePhoneLab in Breda, Nick is behind the counter in the store every day. Nick has been tinkering with devices for more than 16 years and started in the early days of the smartphone. Where he once worked as a sushi chef, he ended up in phone repair by accident. First in Vodafone stores, among others, and then at several other repair shops. Through shop manager Wouter, he joined ThePhoneLab in September 2020 as assistant shop manager, where he worked for almost four years. Because he had an hour of travel time, if it was convenient (and it was regularly not convenient), he decided to seek a new challenge closer to home in 2023. Still, the contact remained and in April 2024 he started as shop manager of the new store in Breda. For him within cycling distance and a move that perfectly matched his ambitions as well as his home situation.
Technically, his strength lies in Apple repairs, especially iPads. That combination of precision and pace suits him well. At the same time, he consciously seeks out challenges, for example in laptop repairs where it’s all about diagnosis and logical thinking. It is this puzzling that keeps the work interesting for him and ensures that he continues to develop.
What sets Nick apart is his visible enthusiasm. He enjoys being in the store and that is contagious for customers and colleagues. Honesty and service always come first. For him it is simple: a customer should not only be helped, but above all should leave with a good feeling. Precisely because in the past he was able to work in a less customer-oriented way at other companies, that is now his greatest motivation.
Outside of work hours, Nick is just as active with his family and two young children. The youngest member of the family, a golden retriever, is also a wonderful asset. He also enjoys fishing to unwind and experimenting with his 3D printer, including creating smart solutions to help with repairs.
