About Gilano

Gilano has worked at ThePhoneLab since September 2025 and has been repairing devices since he was 16. What started as pure curiosity quickly grew into a serious passion for technology. While many of his peers used their phones on their own, he took them apart to see how everything worked inside. Through a period at Coolblue, among others, he further developed his knowledge and specialized in Apple repairs.

Within ThePhoneLab, Gilano works as a repair specialist on phones, iPads, MacBooks and laptops. His home base is Eindhoven, but he can also regularly be found in other stores such as Rotterdam, Breda or The Hague. He focuses mainly on Apple repairs and is double certified for this. iPhones are daily business for him, but he looks for the challenge especially with more complex iPad and MacBook repairs.

One repair that has stayed with him was a device that had already been reported by colleagues and other repairers as having a motherboard defect. The screen was so dark that it seemed unreadable. Gilano kept looking and discovered that the problem was not in the hardware, but in a hidden setting that severely suppressed the screen’s white point. With one adjustment, the device worked as it should again.

In diagnoses, Gilano works systematically and thoroughly. He dives deep into the symptoms and uses available tools to find out exactly where a problem is coming from. With him, an appliance only goes back to the customer when everything is technically correct and the appliance looks neat and clean again.

Transparency is important to him in this regard. If a repair is not economically sensible, he will always be honest about it. The best moment of his work remains when a customer leaves the store relieved because a problem could be solved after all. Outside of work, Gilano likes to stay busy with technical projects. And the crypto rates? He also keeps an eye on those in between repairs.
