About Roy

Roy has been working at ThePhoneLab since September 2024 and brings several years of experience in device repair. He took his first steps into the profession back around 2019, when he sought an internship during his ICT training. That internship quickly grew into a permanent job in which he continued to develop as a repair specialist. He has since made his interest in technology his daily job.

Within ThePhoneLab, Roy can mainly be found in our stores in Haarlem and Amsterdam on the van Woustraat. There he helps customers with a variety of repairs, from quick screen replacements to more complex operations on laptops. Especially MacBook repairs suit him well. He performs battery and screen replacements almost daily, and thanks to his experience he knows exactly what to look out for in order to return a device in perfect working order.

What typifies Roy in his work is his eye for detail. He is known for his perfectionism and likes to take the time to finish a repair really neatly. You can see that for example when placing a screen protector: no dust, no hair and no crooked edge. Everything has to be right. Before a device is returned to the customer, he always checks that all parts have been fitted properly, that the device is clean and that everything is working properly again. When making a diagnosis, Roy always starts with the customer’s story. What happened, how old is the appliance and what is still working or not working? Based on that, he clearly explains what options there are and what the customer can expect. For him, the best moment is when someone who comes in with stress or panic at first ends up walking out the door with a big smile.

In his free time, Roy likes to relax with games on the PC. Especially shooters and racing games are favorites. As is the BurgerKing’s Long Chicken.
