About Bart

Bart is shop manager of our Groningen branch and has been repairing since 2008. His first steps in the trade actually started out of necessity. As a teenager, he regularly dropped his own phone, leaving him with a broken screen over and over again. Instead of having it repaired all the time, he decided to learn how to do it himself. Soon he was regularly sitting at the kitchen table taking apart his phone, often ordering multiple screens at once from China because he knew a new one would be needed anyway.

In 2019, Bart started working at ThePhoneLab in Amsterdam. At the time, he still lived in Emmen, which meant traveling back and forth by train every day to work in the store. Not exactly a short ride, but his enthusiasm for the trade made up for a lot. In 2020, he moved to Amsterdam where he was now shop manager. In 2022, he decided to move back north. Contact with ThePhoneLab always remained and when plans for a store in Groningen became concrete, Bart was the first to be called. Not much later he was back in a ThePhoneLab store, this time as shop manager in Groningen.

Bart’s specialty is replacing iPhone batteries, which he does so quickly and smoothly that they could learn a thing or two from Apple. Within the store Bart is known for his clear explanations and his way of thinking with customers. He finds it important that people understand what happens to their device and what choices they have. Although he performs many different repairs, it is the repairs he enjoys the most that he has not seen before. New technical puzzles keep the work challenging.

Outside of work hours, technology continues to play a major role as well. Bart enjoys tinkering with electronics even then and regularly plays Magic: The Gathering.
