Smartphone rumors March 2018: a budget iPhone, OnePlus 6, Huawei + Porsche and 3 new BlackBerrys

The smartphone industry never stands still. New devices are released by manufacturers every month. So even in the world of rumors, one always sleeps with one eye open. That’s why we give you a summary of all the rumors in the smartphone business every month. Featuring this month: iPhone, OnePlus, Huawei and BlackBerry.

No more notch and cheaper iPhones?

Although Apple has yet to release a successor to the iPhone X this year, rumors for 2019 are already circulating. Despite the notch at the top of the otherwise borderless screen being met with mixed feelings last year, the competition seemed so impressed with the “notch” that several devices with notch were presented. Whether ongoing criticism or copycat behavior is the reason no one knows, but according to the latest
rumors
Apple is moving away from the notch in 2019.

Speculation about the 2018 successor to the iPhone X is also rife. Thus, Apple would come out with a cheaper and larger iPhone. We’ll leave the name open for now, but the new device is said to feature a 6.1-inch screen (the iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen) and cost between €500 and €600. With this, Apple intends to compete with companies such as OnePlus and Huawei. The notch and Face ID would also be found in the new model. The announcement of the new device and
even more budget devices
is expected in late March.

OnePlus 6: all the rumors in a row

The Chinese company OnePlus has been scoring high in recent years with high-end and affordable smartphones, and they are definitely going to continue that line this year. CEO Pete Lau recently announced that the successor to the OnePlus 5T will be announced late in the second quarter of this year. The OnePlus 6 (that will undoubtedly be its name) has already caused a lot of rumors, and we’re listing them.

The new device would feature a new design with an aluminum frame and a glass back allowing wireless charging. Also, the much loved and hated notch would be implemented in the otherwise borderless screen that would go on to feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner. A new Qualcomm processor would not only make the device faster, it would also improve battery life. Facial recognition would also be enhanced with an infrared sensor, which would make it work better at night.

Huawei Porsche design

In just under two weeks, three new devices are expected from China’s Huawei. The P20 lite, the P20 and the P20 Pro are said to have innovations, but the most notable rumor is that a fourth device may be released. Leaked photos namely, show that a Huawei device features a Porsche design. Whereas Huawei smartphones are known for their low prices, the Porsche phone will boast a staggering price tag of €1200.

BlackBerry and keyboards…

The last rumor of this edition is about good old BlackBerry. The Canadian smartphone manufacturer will come out with at least two new devices in April with keyboard. It is also rumored that a third device will be released under the Uni name. Little else is known about the new BlackBerrys, except that they will feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
